History
Throughout my life I knew that I wanted to start my own company. I have always had the entrepreneurial spirit and felt that I needed to work for myself. I joined the military in 1999 at the age of 17 to try to help pay for college, as our family didn't come from money. It was the only way for me to afford going to school. After a year and a half of school, our National Guard unit from Williston was called to active duty following September 11th, 2001. We deployed to Iraq and spent 1 year there; from 2003-2004. I didnt learn much while overseas, but I learned one thing for sure - I would never be that far away from my family again. To stay close to home, when I returned to North Dakota, I went to work in the oilfield in williston.
From 2004-2011 I worked for 2 different trucking companies learning the "ins and outs" of trucking operations in the oilfield. Beginning in 2008 there were a lot of companies migrating to North Dakota to pursue the opportunities that the new oil boom was presenting. These companies had a lot of negative publicity, as most of the accidents and incidents were fueled by people unaware of the hazards and weather conditions we had in North Dakota. I, myself, was also critical of these people trying to "make it big" in our industry. Late in 2011 I decided that I could either continue to be critical of these people or I could start my own business and attempt to be part of the solution. So, I purchased a 1998 International 9300 truck, mortgaged my house, and pushed all my chips in the middle. It has been a truly scary yet exciting experience ever since then.
In the early days, our company experienced many financial woes and operational issues. I was the driver, the mechanic, the secretary, and everything in between for the business. Unfortunately, there was literally nobody else there to do these jobs, and even if there were...I couldn't afford to pay them. There was no shop, so all maintenance was done in Truck Stop parking lots in Williston - even in the dead of winter. Since then, A LOT has changed. We have more employees and equipment than I could have ever dreamt, we have multiple facilities, and levels of great people managing the company. I have felt over the years that the greatest blessing I have had in this endeavor, is that we have had great people come to my company. I have always felt that there has been some divine intervention bringing people to me that I needed the most when I needed them the most. For that, I am eternally grateful and blessed. Although the oilfield is an "up and down" business, good people remain and will be in great demand in every industry, no matter what any market does.
No matter how big our company gets, I make a great effort getting to know every employee that we have by name so people do not feel like just a number. I have always liked the small company feel, but appreciate the strength and benefits we are able to provide to our employees the bigger we grow. No matter what size the company achieves, my goals will never change. I want every person to be able to provide for their families, have good health insurance and benefits, be proud of the company they work for, and go home every day the way they come to work. I have always supported our people when they have personal or family issues, and stand by them when those things are happening, and I plan to continue to do so.... essentially I believe in family and safety first.
